At the center of this novel is the poor and lonely bookseller Ibrahim. He lives in Amman and ever since his father, a former schoolteacher and political prisoner, hung himself in the kitchen, he has been completely alone. One day, after losing his little bookstore, he notices that he has another creature living in him. His stomach swells up like that of a pregnant woman, and he hears a voice urging him to act against all the injustices around him. Voir moins
