AMNAY, SON OF THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS
On the Move
That day, Amnay Idir was to become a Roman soldier, and his name would be romanized in Amnius Idirtus. Alone as he faced his destiny, be moved toward the Forum in the heart of Volubilis where commercial and administrative activities took place. He registered in the cavalry regiment of ther Roman army. Since antiquity, Moors have been inseparable from their horses. It started with one of their leaders, Luacins Quietus-an Amazigh, in spite of his romanized name who had created the cavalry in the Roman army. Amnay's name in Amazigh means the horse rider, and he loved horses.
Though Rome represented the Invader, the Alien, it also represented a land beyond the sea, another continent for adventures, and Amnay's blood was boiling with two aspects of his culture a deep and pacific love of nature. and an impetuous taste for adventure with the courage to face it.
